About the Maxine Greene Society
Community in Common Purpose
Teachers College inaugurated the Maxine Greene Society to recognize and thank a community of donors whose reliable participation – year after year – exemplifies Maxine Greene’s value of deep engagement and helps further our common purpose here at Teachers College.
Members will be invited to special College events throughout the year, to meet with and hear from faculty and students, to learn about life-changing work we’re doing at Teachers College, and to see the impact of your steadfast support. We will also recognize you for consecutive giving in the Annual Report of Donors.
The Value of Consistency
The Maxine Greene Society brings together Teachers College’s most loyal alumni and friends who have given their consistent support through an Annual Fund gift every year for five years or more. These consecutive gifts, at any level, are a mainstay of our operating budget and allow the College to keep pioneering bold new ideas in human development and learning.
No matter the economic climate, consecutive donors ensure the College’s financial stability by providing a consistent resource we can count on year in and year out. Your reliable support assures our success.
Join Us in Leading the Way
Consecutive gifts to the Annual Fund play a crucial role at Teachers College, providing a bulwark of financial stability as well as a vote of confidence in the work we do. Without such gifts, we could not sustain the level of excellence that Teachers College has long been known for – faculty and students asking the hard questions, innovating solutions for real-world needs, and advancing entire fields of study.
Maxine Greene’s signature philosophy has been “imagining things as if they could be otherwise.” With your help every year, Teachers College can continue to do this every day.
Professor Emeritus Maxine Greene has been a the forefront of educational philosophy for almost half a century as a teacher, lecturer and author. A beloved Teachers College faculty member since 1965, Maxine Greene has advocated for “wide awakeness” and defined the field of social imagination. Her life’s work has been to encourage deep engagement in the world, which resonates through all we do at Teachers College.
